Elzly Technology Corporation (Elzly) is seeking to fill a full-time Senior Engineering Manager position to support a myriad of clients and exciting projects, at Elzly’s Reston, VA office. Elzly is a growing consulting-engineering firm that provides technical and subject matter expertise for the prevention and control of corrosion. Our services include assisting our clients with field investigations of corrosion phenomena, research and testing of materials, developing training materials, and development of specifications. JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • A successful candidate will provide technical oversight of staff, project management, and be an active participant on various projects for the Department of Defense and other government and commercial clients. Projects the Senior Engineering Manager will manage will tangibly improve military readiness by addressing and preventing corrosion on air, ground, and sea weapons systems as well as infrastructure assets.
  • This is a senior level management position. As such the following can be expected:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering work on multiple significant programs.
    • Serve as major clients' primary point of contact.
    • Identify correct labor skills and direct/manage teams of engineers and subcontractors on projects.
    • Serve as primary reviewer for project work, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client's scope of work.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel will be required and varies by job assignment (expected minimum of 20%) – required.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing to pursue (or have) a Government security clearance  – required.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Other technical degrees may be considered.) – required.
    • Advanced education and/or Industry Certificates may substitute for up to five years of service – optional.
  • Related experience managing projects and mentoring/supervising junior staff in corrosion, coatings, or cathodic protection. – required.
    • Relevant experience in managing engineering, testing, field services, logistics, or other support projects for DoD customers may be considered in lieu of direct corrosion or coatings experience – optional.
  • Subject matter expert level technical competency in corrosion and corrosion control methods. - required.
  • Prior experience working in the Department of Defense arena – desired.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and/or verbal communication skills; writing samples will be requested if not submitted with the resume – required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite in addition to the ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, including in a remote environment – required.
  • The candidate should have demonstratable experience with the use of basic hand tools and familiarity with electronic and mechanical systems, and laboratory test equipment – highly desired.
This position at Elzly will be performed primarily at our Reston, VA office as well as at our customer’s facilities and other off-site locations (e.g., military installations, bridges/highway structures, etc.). The expectation is the majority of the work for this position will be performed in collaboration with Elzly and our customers’ technical staff in our offices and our client sites providing management and mentorship opportunities. Elzly has a flexible work structure that may allow periodic remote work to motivated individuals and self-starters based on project and managerial requirements.

Close, distance, color, and depth vision, manual dexterity (to handle small objects, instruments, or gages), ability to adjust focus, work from a ladder or lift occasionally, safely lift 20 pounds, walk on uneven ground or terrain, work in confined spaces, crawl for extended periods of time, enter 24 inch diameter space, hear, work outside (including inclement weather), wear a respirator, speak and smell.
