Paint Chemical Quality Assurance Inspector

KTA is recruiting an experienced Part-Time Paint/Chemical Quality Assurance Inspector in the New York City area to perform QA inspections at paint and chemical manufacturing and distribution locations. This includes production quality, witnessing tests, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications. Most inspections are within 50 miles of New York City, but occasional travel will be required. This role is part-time, 30 hours weekly with a comprehensive benefits package offered including health, dental vision, paid time off, company-paid life and disability insurance, as well as retirement plans.
Key responsibilities:
- Scheduling and conducting inspections within 5 business days of request;
- Witnessing manufacturing processes, quality control testing, and material transfers;
- Verifying batch quantities and packaging;
- Coordinating sampling and shipment of materials to laboratories;
- Documenting inspections clearly and accurately; and
- Communicating findings to KTA and the client’s Inspection Coordinators
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in inspection and/or testing of paints, fuels, lubricants, greases, antifreeze, biofuels, and industrial cleaning agents.
- Familiarity with ASTM standards and other relevant physical/chemical test methods and lab equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Close, color, distance, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus;
- Ability to travel and ability to work outside (including inclement weather);
- Manual dexterity (to handle small objects, instruments, and gages), as well as the ability to safely lift 25 pounds, wear a respirator, and detect smells.
