(KTA) is a 100% employee- owned materials engineering firm internationally recognized as a leading expert in corrosion protection.  KTA’s hallmark services include coating failure investigation, coating recommendations, and coating condition assessments.  KTA’s Commercial Services Group provides building systems consulting services through a variety of offerings, including building envelope diagnostics with an emphasis on moisture intrusion, masonry, and paint problems, specifying repairs, and providing quality assurance services during remodel projects.

Our Commercial Services Group is seeking a disciplined self-starter to manage and perform technical assessments of commercial buildings, and manage client needs from proposal development through final deliverable and invoicing.  This is a full-time position based out of our corporate office in Pittsburgh, PA or satellite office in Dobson, NC. Initially, travel will be required to become familiar with KTA’s service offerings. Once fully acquainted, travel demands will lessen and be only for specialized assignments for shorter durations. In twelve months, you will know you are successful when you have:
  • Explored client needs, verified understanding of their needs, and prepared responsive proposals that provide solutions to building envelope and moisture intrusion problems;
  • Performed professional tier onsite building envelope consulting and diagnostic assessments, moisture intrusion surveys, failure investigations, coating condition assessments, and paint and building repair QA inspections;
  • Coordinated with peers and external consulting engineering firms and commercial building owners to gain insight and determine root cause of problems identified;
  • Prepared written technical reports based on the field assessments including scopes of work, specifications, and recommendations for remediation of building/coatings issues, with minimal guidance;
  • Effectively managed building inspection staff and reviewed their reports and client deliverables for accuracy;
  • Managed project assignments on time, on scope, and within budget in conformance with KTA’s scope of services and corporate quality standards.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree (or specialized experience) in Building Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline – preferred
  • Technical experience in the application of building science principles and a strong understanding of commercial building maintenance and remodel strategies and determining cause(s) of moisture intrusion.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word), reading and taking measurements, blueprint reading, and will be mathematically inclined.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Physical requirements include ability to hear, speak, smell; vision (close, distance, color, depth, ability to adjust focus); ability to climb and work from heights, safely lift 50 pounds, walk on uneven ground or terrain, work outside (including inclement weather); manual dexterity (to handle small objects, instruments, or gages).
